‘Work from home, ban on indoor weddings’, NCOC issues new guidelines to curb the second wave

With the cases rising in the country, the government has ordered work-from-home policy for half of the staff in both public and private sector offices and relatively broader smart lockdowns in the urban centres of the country as part of the second phase of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

Moreover, a ban on indoor marriages is also imposed whereas only outdoor marriages are allowed with an upper limit of 1,000 persons which will be effective from November 20.

In order to ensure clarity and effective implementation, supplementary details are also being issued separately.

According to an NCOC statement issued on Friday, the second phase of precautionary measures would be imposed in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit, Muzzafarabad, Mirpur, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur and Abbottabad.

Terming them the “Non Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPI)”, the NCOC said that these measures would “remain in force till 31 January 2021,” in the “major cities with high positivity and higher disease spread potential”.

The NCOC has forwarded these guidelines to all federating units to implement from November 7, whereas the safety guidelines for outdoor marriages will come into force from Nov 20, till further notice.
