Weekly SPI increases by 12.2pc

The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined group increased by 0.03 per cent during the week ended Jul 29, 2021, whereas the SPI increased by 12.2 per cent from the last year.

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released the combined index at 150.7 compared to 150.65 on Jul 22, 2021, whereas a year ago, on Jul 29, 2020, the index was recorded at 134.31.

The average price of 23 items was increased, 6 items were decreased, and the remaining 22 items out of the total 52, registered no change during the week.

A mixed trend was reported, with the weekly SPI percentage change of income groups ranging between -0.09 per cent and 0.15 per cent.

The lowest income group witnessed a weekly decrease of 0.02 per cent, while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.15 per cent.

Yearly analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 11.31 per cent and 15.52 per cent.

Yearly, SPI for the lowest income group increased by 15.52 per cent, while the highest income group recorded an increase of 11.73 per cent.
