Vaccination for citizens aged 18 and above to begin from June 3: Asad Umar

The head of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday said that the vaccination drive for people aged 18 and above will begin from June 3.

The decision was made at an NCOC meeting earlier, Umar said on Twitter. “With this step, the vaccination of all eligible age groups would be carried out.”

On Saturday, Pakistan set a new record of administering 383,000 COVID-19 vaccines in a single day. More than 7 million people have been vaccinated across the country so far.

Pakistan reported its lowest coronavirus positivity ratio since March at 4.05 per cent. In the last 24 hours, Pakistan recorded 43 deaths while 2,117 people tested positive for COVID-19, according to the latest statistics released by NCOC. Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 20,779 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 9,999 casualties followed by Sindh:5,020 KPK: 4,073; Islamabad: 760; Balochistan: 277; GB: 107 and AJK: 543.
