UAE resumes tourist visas

Monday, the United Arab Emirates announced the resumption of its tourist visas for completely vaccinated individuals. This notification comes a month before Dubai inaugurates Expo 2020 trade fair.

The tourist visas have been banned for 4 months, with a complete suspension of flights for Some countries including Pakistan. The resumption comes after the country recorded less than 1000 infections per day for a week.

Tourism is one of UAE’s greatest economic resource. The resumption of tourism will help the country acheive sustainable recovery and economic growth.

Dubai Expo 2020 was inplanning for years and was meant to attract millions and boost their tourism economy. The trade fair was delayed for a year due to the exceptional circumstances of Covid-19.

The vaccination requirement is for citizens of all countries. In addition to being completely vaccinated, the passengers will have to get a mandatory PCR test at the airport on arrival. The list of approved vaccines inclide Sinopharm, Sinovac, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson&johnson and AstraZeneca.

UAE has been successful in containing the pandemic, things have returned to normal. But SOPS including masks and social distancng are still enforced.

The UAE has so far recorded more than 715,000 cases of Covid-19 infection, including 2,036 deaths.
