UAE extends deadline for repayment of $2bn

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially extended the deadline for repayment of $2 billion loan.

Pakistan had to pay back the amount by April 19. In February, the UAE had conveyed its decision to extend the deadline.

The extension in deadline was announced after a meeting of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi with his counterpart Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier, Qureshi was driven to the Foreign Ministry office by Abdullah Bin Zayed al Nahyan himself for the meeting.

They discussed bilateral relations, regional situation including Afghan peace process and a wide range of issues.

It was the second meeting between the foreign ministers in the last four months.
