The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has prohibited unvaccinated individuals to travel by trains from October 1 onwards. It has also called on the provinces to ensure the proper implementation of SOPs during Muharram.

The NCOC meeting presided over by Asad Umar, expressed concern over the worsening situation in Rawalpindi and Peshawar. The committee decided to prohibit travelling by trains from October.

The delta variant is teh most dangerous strain of the COVID-9 virus. If Pakistan is to avoid the chaos which engulfed India. The people need utilise the vaccines to provide them with an additional layer of protection.

The committee was satisfied with the vaccination statistics. But feared that the inidividuals were not returning for the administration of the second dose. NCOC reported that out of the 29 million people who got the first dose only 7 million completed the two jabs.

A possible reason is that millions were turned away by vaccination centres as they did not have the code provided by 1166. The special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Faisal Sultan announced that the code was no longer needed for the second dose.

He chose the occasion to thank the USAID. USAID has provided funds amounting $40 million to Pakistan, including 200 ventilators, personal protection equipment and pulse oximeters.
