The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Manu Sawhney acknowledged that it is highly likely that the T20 World Cup to be played in India goes as per plan.

Sawhney said, “The uncertain situation still exists, everyone is trying to deal with it.”

The talks of shifting the tournament to the UAE is already on the table. The final decision will be taken looking at the COVID-19 trends in India. We need to understand that holding a global event in the pandemic is totally different from bilateral series, he further added. He also admitted that it would be a “challenge” to create protocols for 16 teams taking part in the World T20.

The ICC CEO also said that they will try to learn form the mistakes made in the Pakistan Super League to ensure a safe environment for the players and officials. Furthermore, ICC is also keeping a close eye on how the Indian Premier League (IPL) is held in India.
