In a bid to stem the spread of COVID-19, a smart lockdown has been imposed in seven areas of Charsadda. These areas include Balo Korona Chatral, Sardarabad Kali Sardheri, Chitral Korona Charsadda, Bilal Colony Sardheri, SDC Office Charsadda, Pattak Korona Sardheri and Bridge Kalay Sardheri.
According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner of Charsadda, entry and exit points of these areas will be sealed for the next five days.
In the last 24 hours, 1,353 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 54 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC).
As of March 9, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 16,349. Yesterday, 31,787 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 5,950: Punjab: 15,501; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 6,712; Islamabad: 4,847; Balochistan: 125; Gilgit-Baltistan: 263 and Azad Kashmir: 516.
Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 233 are occupied across Pakistan. 22% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Peshawar, 17% in Multan, 32% in Islamabad, and 40% in Lahore. No patients are on ventilators in Balochistan, AJK, and GB. Of the allotted oxygen beds, 94% are occupied in Gujrat, 29% in Multan, 38% in Peshawar, and 32% in Islamabad.
A total of 593,453 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 10,626; Balochistan: 19,121; GB: 4,959; ICT: 45,976, KPK: 74,167; Punjab: 178,648 and Sindh: 259,956.
Till now, Pakistan has recorded 13,281 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 5,600 casualties followed by Sindh: 4,436; KPK: 2,118; Islamabad: 511; Balochistan: 201; GB: 102 and AJK: 313.
