Sialkot incident hero Adnan to meet PM Imran today

Malik Adnan, who fought courageously to save the life of Sri Lanka’s Priyantha Kumara from a violent mob in Sialkot last week, will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday (today).

Adnan has arrived in Islamabad on prime minister’s invitation. He was received by Special Adviser to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Gill and other senior officials.

Adnan’s stay has been arranged at the PM House, a protocol reserved for foreign dignitaries.

According to the information ministry, a ceremony will be held in honour of Adnan to acknowledge his act of valour and courage.

On Sunday, PM Imran commended Adnan’s courage and bravery while trying to save his colleague’s life, and announced conferring him Tamgha-e-Shujaat.

The footage of Adnan making desperate attempts to rescue Kumara from the rabid mob on Friday came to limelight on Saturday, earning praise from the entire nation.

CONDOLENCE REFERENCE: A condolence reference will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office today for Kumara.

The reference is aimed at expressing solidarity with the bereaved family and the Sri Lankan government and people over the tragic incident.

The event will be attended by federal cabinet members, Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Pakistan Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama, academics and religious scholars, among others.

‘MOST WANTED’ ARRESTED: Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested “most wanted” Imtiaz alias Billy involved in torture to death the Sri Lankan man and setting his body on fire.

According to a Punjab police spokesperson, accused Imtiaz was arrested from a bus bound for Rawalpindi.

Police said eight more suspects have been arrested with the help of CCTV footage and mobile calls data, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to 131.
