Sherry says food inflation hovering around 18.7 per cent, highest in South Asia

Pakistan People’s Party senior leader Sherry Rehman has lambasted the sitting government over its inability to control the prices of essential food items.

She took to Twitter and said, “According to PBS’s Sensitive Price Index (SPI), prices of 18 essential food items have been hiked up this week. Avg Food inflation hovers around 18.7% – highest in South Asia. Instead of providing relief before Ramzan, #TabahiSarkar adds burden on people with #extremeinflation

Sensitive Price Indicator(SPI) is computed on weekly basis to assess the price movements of essential commodities at shorter intervals of time. SPI comprises of 51 essential items and the prices are collected from 50 markets in 17 cities.
