Senior Minister Aleem decides to resign for ‘personal reasons’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has decided to resign due to personal commitments.

It is learnt that he tendered his resignation in a meeting with the prime minister a few days ago. But, the premier turned down his request and asked him to wait for some time.

Insiders say that he is awaiting a reply from the prime minister.

“I can no longer handle the ministry due to personal engagements. I spent many years in politics but now I want to give some time to my private life. I have served Pakistan and I will continue to work for the country,” Aleem said in a statement.

Earlier, Aleem had resigned from Ministry of Local Government and Planning after he was arrested on February 6, 2019 by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in an offshore company case and accumulating assets beyond known sources of income.
