Scotland Yard dismisses claims that Nazia Hassan was poisoned

Star singer Nazia Hassan’s brother and co-composer Zohaib Hassan has said that his late sister was poisoned by her husband Ishtiaq Baig.

In an interview with Samaa TV, the pop star said that Baig was poisoning Nazia and this caused her cancer.

Nazia had one of her ovaries removed after she developed ovarian cancer, she was in remission when she went back to her husband and then soon she developed throat cancer that puzzled her doctor, he added.

He went on to state that Nazia told me that her then-husband had “fed her something” harmful and treated her inappropriately.

While claiming the authenticity of the allegations, he stated that “I did not level any allegations. These are things Nazia wrote herself.”

Scotland Yard dismisses ‘poison’ claim

The legendary “Disco Deewane” singer Nazia Hassan didn’t die of poison, or any kind of foul play as, according to a high profile investigation by Scotland Yard, which established that the allegations of poisoning lacked merit.

Zoheb Hassan had claimed that Nazia’s testimony to a UK solicitor stated that her husband, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, allegedly poisoned her and held her hostage.

However, as per records maintained by authorities in the United Kingdom — after a joint investigation was carried out by the Scotland Yard detectives, a team of doctors and North London’s Coroner W Dolman — Nazia died of “natural causes” and there was no involvement of poison or any other substance.
