Queen Elizabeth has invited Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to Buckingham Palace for her platinum jubilee celebration in 2022.
The Queen will mark 70 years of her ascendence to the throne next year.
The Daily Mail reported that both Meghan and Harry are also considering attending Trooping the Colour, which is the Queen’s official birthday parade. Harry and Meghan were not present at the parade this year, as they welcomed their newborn baby Lilibet Diana on June 4. The parade was much smaller in 2021, given the current pandemic of the coronavirus.
It’s been a long tradition of the royal family to make an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during major events. The platinum jubilee celebration is no different. However, it is not clear if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make an appearance on the balcony with the rest of the family members.
“The balcony moment will be decided much nearer the time but there’s a limit to how many family members should be on it, and I would have thought that working Royals who contribute to the family would be higher on the list than the Sussexes,” a source told the Daily Mail. Before giving up their royal titles, the couple has joined the rest of the family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at a few events.
