Punjab surpasses Sindh in COVID-19 deaths

There has been a rapid increase in the COVID-19 cases in Punjab. On Tuesday, the province saw 41 deaths and 429 new cases. With this development, Punjab has overtaken Sindh in the total number of deaths.

The Punjab government yesterday, imposed smart lockdown in 55 areas of Lahore to curb the spread of the virus.

In the last 24 hours, 2,963 people tested positive for COVID-19 while 60 people passed away according to the latest statistics provided by the National Command and Command Centre (NCOC).

In the past few days, there has been an increase in the number of critical patients in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

Out of 1756 vents allocated for COVID-19 in the country, 348 vents are currently occupied. Out of 60 deaths on Tuesday, 30 were on ventilators. There is no patient on the vent in Balochistan, GB and AJK.

As of December 9, the total active cases in Pakistan are 45,324. Yesterday, 38,092 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting
11,242; Punjab: 15,691; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 4,051; Islamabad: 5,719; Balochistan: 604; Gilgit Baltistan: 406 and Azad Kashmir: 379

A total of 426,142 cases detected so far (AJK 7427, Balochistan 17540, GB 4761, ICT 33420, KP 50506, Punjab 124804, Sindh 187684)

Till now, Pakistan has conducted 5,865,944 tests. Currently, 3,030 patients are being treated in 616 COVID-19 facilities in the country.

Pakistan has recorded 8,547 deaths thus far due to this deadly virus.
