Punjab records highest number of COVID-19 deaths amid surge in infections

As of March 11, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 17,627.

In the last 24 hours, 2258 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 53 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Sindh.

As of March 11, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 17,627. Yesterday, 42,164 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 9,964; Punjab:17,174; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP):6,704; Islamabad(ICT):6,863; Balochistan:405; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB):341 and Azad Kashmir(AJK):713.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 225 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB, and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 566,493 recoveries.

A total of 597,497 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 10730; Balochistan:19157; GB:4959; ICT:46579, KPK:74722; Punjab:180944 and Sindh:260406.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 13377 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 5662 casualties followed by Sindh:4448; KPK:2129; Islamabad: 516; Balochistan: 202; GB: 104 and AJK: 316.

631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,144 patients being treated across the country. A total of 9,360,202 tests have been conducted so far.
