Punjab records highest number of COVID-19 casualties

According to the NCOC, most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In the last 24 hours, 1163 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 42 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As of March 2, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 22,184. Yesterday, 31,948 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 7,315; Punjab:13,616; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP):6,021; Islamabad(ICT):3,836; Balochistan:369; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB):315 and Azad Kashmir(AJK):476.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 210 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB and Balochistan.

A total of 582,528 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 10280; Balochistan:19066; GB:4956; ICT:44516, KPK:72615; Punjab:172683 and Sindh:258412.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 12938 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 5391 casualties followed by Sindh:4353; KPK:2085; Islamabad: 501; Balochistan: 200; GB: 102 and AJK: 306.

631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 1,973 patients being treated across the country. A total of 9,022,124 tests have been conducted so far.
