Punjab government bans indoor dining amid rising COVID-19 cases

In a bid to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the province, the Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on indoor dining in restaurants, cafes and hotels.

The situation in the province has worsen with 727 cases and 25 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the notification from Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD), dining inside hotels, cafes, and restaurants has been banned.

The Punjab government said that people can have meals in open spaces of hotels and restaurants.

Captain (R) Muhammad Usman, the secretary P&SHD warned that the restaurants should make proper arrangements keeping all the social distancing protocols in mind otherwise the authorities will take action.

“The coronavirus SOPs will have to be followed in the open as well,” Usman stressed, urging people not to go out of their homes unnecessarily and to use masks at all times.

The restaurants, hotels and cafes are also directed to close after 10pm.
