PSL 6: Franchises ask PCB to move remaining games to UAE from Karachi

The tournament is set to resume on June 2 with final to be played on June 20

Keeping in mind the recent surge in the COVID-19 cases, all six franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have asked the board to shift the remaining games of the tournament to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Karachi.

The request was made through a letter last week, according to ESPNcricinfo. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently reviewing its plans.

On Tuesday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed indefinitely suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis in the country,

Pakistan too is currently facing a rise in Covid-19 cases which could have prompted the request.

In the initial plans, the teams were supposed to arrive in Karachi on May 23 and start their seven-day quarantine period. The matches were supposed to begin on June 2 culminating with the final on June 20.

Earlier, the PCB had decided to postpone the sixth edition of the HBL PSL, after multiple positive Covid-19 cases, on March 4.

According to details, seven players and one support staff official had tested positive for the virus which led to question marks over PCB’s bio-secure bubble arrangements and reservations from foreign players.
