Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that there will be no increase in gas prices for the next few months.
The decision was taken during a meeting that was held to review the prices of essential commodities, such flour, sugar, and other commodities.
The prime minister chaired the meeting to bring down the prices of essential commodities which was also attended by federal ministers, including Khurso Bakhtiyar, Hafeez Shaikh, Hammad Azhar, Fakhar Imam, Umar Ayub, Asad Umar, federal secretaries, and others.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had notified a reduction in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) prices for the month of February on March 06.
In February, OGRA had permitted the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) to increase its average gas price by Rs 13.42/MMBtu (or 2 per cent) for the financial year 2020-21. According to The News, the increase was made over the existing average sale prices of Rs631.41 per MMBtu.
