PM Imran ‘saddened’ at passing away of Dilip Kumar

Prime Minister Imran Khan has condoled the death of legendary actor Dilip Kumar and recounted his selfless help to raise funds for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Hospital.

The premier took to Twitter and wrote he was saddened to learn Dilip Kumar’s passing away.

“I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when the project was launched. This is the most difficult time – to raise first 10 percent of the funds and his appearance in Pakistan and London helped raise huge amounts,” he wrote in his message.

Prime Minister Imran acknowledged his acting skills and said “apart from this, for my generation Dilip Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor.”

Meanwhile, President Arif Alvi paid him glowing tribute as “an outstanding actor, a humble man, and a dignified personality”.

Opposition leader and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, in his tweet, said that “Peshawar’s Yusuf Khan ruled for many years over Bollywood as Dilip Kumar and today, left the world as a legend.”

He remembered his efforts as a parliamentarian for normalization of relations of Pakistan and India.

Shehbaz prayed that may Allah rest his soul in peace and grant courage to his family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in his tweet that “Dilip Sahib will be remembered for his humanity and unparalleled talent.”

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said in his tweet that Dilip Kumar was a “charming personality” and a trendsetter par excellence.

Pakistan cricket star all-rounder Shahid Afridi also tweeted on the sad demise of Dilip Kumar and wrote that “he lives on in our hearts. Deepest condolences to Saira Banu sahiba.”
