PIA to operate Lahore-Tashkent flights from March

Flights to Uzbekistan are part of the airline’s network expansion program.

Karachi: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plans to operate flights from Lahore to Tashkent by end of March this year and permissions have been sought in this regard.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik and Chief Commercial Officer, Ali Tahir Qasim, and other airline officials met with Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan Aybek Arif Usmanov and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Syed Ali Asad Gilani. PIA’s top leadership sought formal permission to operate flights to Tashkent.

Both Ambassadors have expressed their keenness and support to have air links between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan has a lot of mosques and shrines; the cities of Tashkent, Bukhara, and Samarkand have a rich culture and history.

PIA is planning to expand its network to destinations in Central Asian Countries and increasing the frequency of flights to Afghanistan. The airline plans to operate five flights per week to Kabul from March 4 and will also operate flights to Baku from Lahore from March 14. Flights to Tashkent and Bishkek are part of the airline’s network expansion program.
