PDM to meet today to strategise on Senate elections, long march

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the 11-party opposition alliance, will be convening in Islamabad today at a decisive meeting, where alliance members will discuss strategies to be used against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. They are expected to decide their immediate plans regarding resignations from assemblies, long march, and a no-confidence motion against the federal and Punjab government.

The meeting will be chaired by alliance leader and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, and will include Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and PPO co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari are expected to join the meeting via video call.

Insider reports suggest that Asif Ali Zardari will brief the meeting about the no-confidence motion to be passed in the National Assembly, while PML-N leadership, including Khwaja Saad Rafique, will lead the discussion on the resignations and long march strategy.
