PDM to demand foreign funding case verdict in tomorrow’s protest, says Fazal

Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has said that the planned Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally on Tuesday in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) offices in Islamabad will “demand that foreign funding case verdict be announced at the earliest.”

The Maulana, who is the head of 11-party opposition alliance, was addressing a press conference, flanked by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and People’s Party leader Raja Pervez Ashraf, after the steering committee meeting held at his residence.

He said the parties in the PDM believe in democracy and follow the Constitution and law. They want supremacy of democracy in the country, he added.

He said the PDM has decided to protest in front of the Election Commission to highlight the foreign funding case of the ruling PTI.

Maulana Fazal called it the “biggest scandal in Pakistan’s political history.”

He accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of illegally collecting millions of rupees from around the world and “used the money for political gains and rigging elections.”

He said the foreign funding case had been pending for six years and the prime minister got “the mother of NROs” to create political instability in Pakistan.

He alleged that Imran Khan used the money donated as charity to fund his personal business and spread chaos in the country.

The Maulana said that the PDM has chalked out a plan for nationwide protests.

He said an anti-Israel rally will be staged in Karachi on January 21, a public gathering in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, on February 5 to express solidarity with Kashmiris, besides rallies in Pashin, Sargodha, Hyderabad, Sialkot and Khuzdar.
