As Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is planning to hold its second phase of agitation, Pakistan Metrological Department issued warning that the first spell of severe cold is likely to hit the country on December 27.

“Following rainfall on the 26 to 28 of December, a severe cold wave is expected to grip Pakistan,” Khalid Mahmoud Spokesman Pakistan Metrological Department told the Correspondent.

“Peak winter, and lowest temperatures, usually arrives in the last ten days of January and lasts till the first ten days of February, however, temperatures are expected to drop drastically near the end of this month”

Furthermore, he added that this winter season expected to be longer than previous years by 10 to 15 days; breaking the trend of shorter winters that had been witnessed in the past.

Punjab’s Met Office in Lahore also confirmed the news of a sharp drop in temperatures, adding the clouds and fog will grip parts of the Punjab plain while heavy snowfall is expected in the northern areas of Pakistan.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is planning to hold a rally in Larkana on December 27. On Saturday Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invited Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) chief Akhtar Mengal to attend the public gathering.
