Pakistan sees spike in COVID-19 infections, positivity rate goes above 3%

Pakistan is seeing a definitive rise in the COVID-19 infection for the last few days as the positivity ratio was recorded at 3.33% in the last 24 hours. The country registered 24 fatalities due to COVID-19 while 1,683 people tested positive, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Sindh followed by Punjab.

As of July 8, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 34,531. On Tuesday, 50,531 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 17.959; Punjab: 17,180; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 10,011; Islamabad(ICT): 2,859; Balochistan: 714; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB): 522 and Azad Kashmir (AJK): 1,286.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 201 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB, and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 910,609 recoveries.

A total of 967,633 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 20,728; Balochistan: 27,502; GB: 6,639; ICT: 83,259, KP: 138,855; Punjab: 347,347 and Sindh: 343,303.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 22,493 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 10,798 casualties followed by Sindh: 5,552 KP: 4,346; Islamabad: 781; Balochistan: 315; GB: 111 and AJK: 590.

639 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,235npatients being treated across the country. A total of 14,911,743 tests have been conducted so far in the country since the pandemic started.
