Pakistan has reported over 3,000 more coronavirus infections and 57 deaths over the past 24 hours, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday.
Meanwhile, 506 ventilators are occupied across Pakistan. In Multan, the ventilator occupancy rate is 67 per cent; in Lahore, it is at 43 per cent; in Bahawalpur, 40 per cent ventilators are occupied; in Peshawar, 35 per cent ventilators are occupied.
Amid reports about a dip in the government’s testing, 58,670 tests were conducted across Pakistan on 23 May. Sindh conducted 21,808; Punjab conducted 22,735 tests; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted 7,533 tests, Balochistan conducted 1,254 tests, while Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir conducted 458 and 720 tests, respectively.
Out of 57 deaths, 52 died in hospital and five out of hospital. The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic in Pakistan has touched 20,308. Punjab has the highest death toll at 9,784. Sindh has reported 4,920 deaths so far, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 3,950 deaths since Feb 2020.
Islamabad has reported 745 deaths, while in Balochistan the virus has claimed 270 lives since it struck Pakistan last year. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, the deaths have reached 107 and 532, respectively.
