Pakistan reopens Chaman-Spin Boldak border for trade

Pakistan has reopened Chaman-Spin Boldak border crossing for bilateral and transit trade with Afghanistan after two weeks.

The border was closed after the Afghan Taliban had captured the area on the Afghan side. However, the border crossing was opened to pedestrians two days later.

Spin Boldak-Chaman route caters to 50 percent of the trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan with over 900 trucks crossing in and out daily.

A large number of trucks were stuck on the border due to closure and authorities hoped to clear the backlog within the next 48 hours.
