Pakistan registers 1,599 new COVID-19 infections, 34 fatalities

The country's death toll climbed to 11,657 after 34 people succumbed to the deadly disease

In the last 24 hours, 1,599 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 34 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As of January 31, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 33,182. Yesterday, 42,455 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 12,941; Punjab: 14,708; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 6,669; Islamabad: 6,713; Balochistan: 714; Gilgit-Baltistan: 370 and Azad Kashmir: 340.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 289 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB and Balochistan.

A total of 544,813 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 8,988; Balochistan: 18,815; GB: 4,908; ICT: 41,359, KPK: 66,953; Punjab: 157,353 and Sindh: 246,437.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 11,657 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 4,736 casualties followed by Sindh: 3,992, KPK: 1,897; Islamabad: 475; Balochistan: 195; GB: 102 and AJK: 260.

631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,591 patients being treated. Till now, Pakistan has conducted 7,932,196 tests.
