Pakistan records over 5,000 COVID-19 cases for first time since April 29

The fourth wave of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in the country as Pakistan recorded over 5,000 new infections in the last 24 hours. The last time Pakistan recorded this number of cases was on April 29.

Furthermore, 62 people succumbed to the deadly virus according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Out of the 62 deaths during the last 24 hours, 30 were reported in Sindh, 18 in Punjab, 6 in KP, 2 in Islamabad, and 3 each in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As of today, the total active COVID-19 cases in the country stand at 69,756. On July 31, Pakistan conducted 56,965 tests while the positivity rate was recorded at 8.82%.
