Pakistan has no favourites in Afghanistan, COAS tells EU envoys

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan has no favourites in the ongoing Afghan conflict and “our sole desire is helping achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan.”

Talking to ambassadors Bernhard Stephan Schlagheck of Germany, Italy’s Andreas Ferrarese, the Netherlands’s Willem Wouter Plomp, and acting ambassador of France Yves Manville who met him at GHQ in Rawalpindi on Thursday, the COAS reiterated that peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including the latest situation in Afghanistan, and enhanced bilateral cooperation with the European Union (EU) were discussed.

General Bajwa said that Pakistan values its relations with EU countries and “we earnestly look forward to enhance mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests.”

The visiting dignitaries also appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability and pledged to play their part for further cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
