According to a press release, the Pakistan Customs, in coordination with Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police, raided a showroom situated on Quetta-Chaman Highway and seized 24 smuggled luxury vehicles.
While resistance by mobs was faced during the operation, strong coordination among the agencies under the umbrella of the Task Force resulted in successful handling of the situation. Consequently, the Task Force lodged first information reports (FIRs) against the show-room owners. During the operation, luxury vehicles models including like Land Cruiser V8, Premio, Honda Crossroad, Axio, Suzuki and Toyota double-cabins were recovered. The approximate value of the seized goods totals Rs 120 million.
Pakistan Customs, as the lead agency in counter-smuggling efforts, is committed to achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of curbing illegal trade of goods. Such actions will not only protect the automotive market from hazardous and smuggled goods, but will promote foreign direct investment by boosting the trust of investors.
