Pakistan added to Amazon’s approved selling countries list

Razak Dawood terms it great opportunity for women entrepreneurs, SMEs and youth.

Pakistan has finally been added to the list of Amazon approved selling countries. The users can now make their accounts while using Pakistani details.

The people who have worked tirelessly for achieving this include Ministry of Commerce Joint Secretary Aisha Moriani, Amazon’s former category development head for Amazon North America Division Omer Gajial and Pakistan Deputy Consul General in Los Angeles Shoaib Sarwar. In addition to this, National E-commerce Council (NECC) members and Pakistan Software Houses Association’s Badar Khushnood also played their part.

This development is a stepping stone which will change the e-commerce sector in Pakistan. This can bring great export potential in Pakistan as the sellers from Pakistan could directly register with their local details and sell local products on Amazon.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood termed a great opportunity for youth, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and women entrepreneurs.

In past, he had emphasised the importance of e-commerce with easy access to the internet and technology. In the past year or so due to COVID-19, this industry has gained more importance.

Amazon is an American multi-national technology company that focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming and artificial intelligence. The company has been referred to as one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world, as well as the world’s most valuable brand.
