Pak vs BD Test: Rain delays start of play on day 3

Persistent rain delayed start of the third day’s play in the second cricket Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan being played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Monday.

Play was scheduled to start at 9:30 am local time.

The covers are still on, the players are still at the hotel. The light has gotten somewhat better, but there is light rain which means there is no question right now of even trying to take the covers off.

Pakistan have scored 188 for 2 from 63.2 overs.

Pakistan, currently leading the two-match Test series 1-0, are in a formidable position after former captain Azhar Ali and Babar Azam scored half-centuries.

Babar (71) and Azhar (52) are still on the crease. Azhar has struck seven boundaries while skipper Babar has hit eight 4s and a six.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam had removed openers Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique. The spinner, who didn’t bowl on day two, remains Bangladesh’s biggest threat with match figures of 2-49.

Rain put a damper on day two of the Test on Sunday. Play resumed after lunch and only 6.2 overs could be bowled in 30 minutes.

As water accumulated on covers and there was ample time at hand, players had fun and enjoyed splashing and skidding.
