Only 250,000 citizens vaccinated as COVID infections near 5,000

4,974 people test positive for COVID-19 while 98 lose their lives

Pakistan’s population over the age 60 stands at approximately 13 million out of which only 0.8 million have registered for the vaccination. Out of this number, only 250,000 have showed up for the inoculation, revealed Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health.

In the last 24 hours, 4,974 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 98 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most deaths occurred in Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As of April 1, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 53,127. Yesterday, 50,055 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 9,634; Punjab:22,624; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP):8,672; Islamabad(ICT):7,564; Balochistan:367; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB):312 and Azad Kashmir(AJK):882.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 419 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in GB and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 605,274 recoveries.

A total of 672,931 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 12805; Balochistan:19576; GB:5033; ICT:58557, KPK:88099; Punjab:223181 and Sindh:265680.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 14530 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 6427 casualties followed by Sindh:4502; KPK:2363; Islamabad: 572; Balochistan: 208; GB: 103 and AJK: 355.

631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 3,901 patients being treated across the country. A total of 10,247,374 tests have been conducted so far.
