Multan Sultans’ James Vince tests positive for COVID-19

James Vince has become the latest cricketer to test positive for Covid-19, which rules him out for the PSL playoffs starting November 14.

James Vince’s participation in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is in doubt after he tested positive for Covid-19. This news comes just a day after Mahmudullah, who also has been ruled out after his test came out positive.

James Vince was set to play for Multan Sultans in the playoffs and had a great PSL 5 before it abruptly came to an end due to pandemic in March. He scored 155 runs in five games with a strike rate of 166.66.

He will undergo a second test but even then he has to isolate himself for 10 days from the date of positive test. Sultans’s coach, Andy Flower is set to arrive tomorrow and will have his work cut out with regards to the combinations and playing XI.

As for the local players, captain Shan Masood and pacers Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan and Ali Shafique have also joined the squad and are presently undergoing their isolation period.

The management is considering Kent and England’s batsmen Joe Denly as a replacement for Vince. It is worth mentioning that Denly has featured for Karachi Kings in the third edition of PSL in 2018.
