Sindh Assembly or Arena? MPAs get caught in the commotion

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly turned into a battleground on Tuesday, when disappeared MPA of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Karim Bakhsh Gabol entered the Assembly hall along with the members of Pakistan Peoples Party.

“I was kidnapped by the PPP members,” Gabool alleged. “My support is still with the PTI in the Senate election.”

The PTI members Khurram Sher Zaman, Saeed Afridi, Bilal Ghafoor, and others rushed towards Gabol to know what actually happened. They asked him to come out of the hall with them. After a brief argument, the PTI MPAs tried to take Gabool out that turned into a fistfight between PTI, PPP members.

The Speaker adjourned the house amid violence.

On Monday evening, PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman told a press conference that three MPAs of his party were allegedly abducted as their phones were switched off and they were not even in touch with their families.

Meanwhile, the two missing MPAs of the PTI were sitting in the assembly on opposition benches with fellow MPAs. But after rumpus, they left the hall along with the PPP members.

Leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Haleem Adil said that the PTI will lodge an FIR against PPP members for kidnapping the party members. A video statement of Gabol was posted to social media earlier in the day in which he said that he would not vote PTI candidate.

THE OTHER VERSION: The other side of the story is as interesting as the earlier one.

Three rebel PTI members Karim Bakhsh Gabol, Shehryar Shar and Aslam Abro arrived in the House. When the PTI members saw them, they rushed towards them and heated arguments turned into a brawl. Their colleagues gave them a thrashing and the PPP MPAs came to their rescue.

The disgruntled members of the PTI alleged that the Senate tickets were sold at the Governor’s House. Shehryar Shar and Aslam Abro told the media that they were not kidnapped. They said they will vote according to their conscience. Aslam Abro said the Constitution allows freedom to vote according to one’s free will.

On the other hand, the PPP lawmakers told media after the assembly session that they feared Gabol’s life, who was forcibly taken away by the PTI MPAs from the assembly proceedings. Shehla Raza said that every MPA is free to vote in the elections. This is not the way to kidnap members from the house.
