Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail has resigned from the post of general secretary after developing differences with the provincial party leadership and workers.
Miftah, who is a former finance minister, wrote a letter to Ahsan Iqbal citing “personal threats and attacks” on him after disagreement over distribution of tickets for the cantonment board elections as reason for his resignation.
The episode began earlier this month when enraged PML-N workers stormed into the party office near Karsaz, vandalised the building and tore posters of the party’s provincial leadership in protest against “unjustified” distribution of tickets for the cantonment boards’ elections.
The PML-N Sindh chapter had issued tickets for the elections in the six cantonment boards in Karachi. However, a group of disgruntled workers protested against the leadership, particularly president Shah Mohammad Shah and general secretary Miftah, for the “unjust distribution of the tickets.”
