Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Miftah Ismael has appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan to extend the timing of the polling for two hours.
After visiting the NA 249 constituency on Thursday, Miftah wrote a letter to the ECP saying the voter turnout is very low due to hot weather.
He requested the ECP to extend the time from 5pm to 7pm.
He claimed that efficiency of presiding officers and their teams has been “very low” which was affecting the polling process.
“Concurrently, majority of voters also arrived in polling stations late afternoon due to fasting and hot weather conditions,” he wrote in his letter.
Ismail said he feared that “due to these factors, most voters will not be able to exercise their Constitutional right to vote for the candidate of their choice as the polling time was nearing its end.”
