Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Pakistan (JUI-P) has issued a notice against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) president Maulana Fazlur Rehman. According to Sherani, Fazlur Rehman registered the party’s name under Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam F (JUI-F) via a letter to the Election Commission.
Maulana Sherani emphasised his separation from JUI-F, stating that he has always been a part of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, and not JUI-F. Following this development, Sherani has revealed that he issued a complaint against the JUI-F head to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He also vowed to open up party centers in every district, stating that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has no future in the country.
Previously, Sherani, a former senior member of the JUI-F, announced the establishment of his own faction called Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Pakistan (JUI-P), alleging that he was never part of the JUI-F.
This development emerged after major differences were identified between senior leaders of JUI-F and chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who also heads the opposition alliance, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
“Everyone [in the alliance] is struggling to come to power. Each party in the opposition alliance has its own set of interests,” Sherani had said, terming PDM as an ‘unnatural alliance’.
