On Wednesday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ordered the immediate release of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 plane as Pakistan has partially cleared the dues to Malaysian authorities.
PIA’s lawyer told media that this decision came as both sides amicably settled the dispute.
Shibli Faraz, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting also confirmed in a press conference that Pakistan has partially paid the dues.
A PIA spokesperson said that the plane will come back carrying passengers. Pakistani pilots and crew will travel to Malaysia and will bring it back in the next two days.
Malaysian authorities had seized the Boeing 777 aircraft on January 15 and allowed the plane’s lessor, Peregrine Aviation Charlie Limited, to keep it grounded. The case involved a US $14 million lease dispute.
