Lashkar-e-Taiba leader arrested in Lahore for terrorism financing

Proscribed Organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi is accused of running a dispensary using funds collected for terrorism financing.

In an intelligence based operation (IBO) conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab, Proscribed Organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was arrested today on charges of terrorism financing.

According to a spokesperson of CTD Punjab, Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi was arrested on January 2, 2021, in a case of terrorism financing registered in Police Station CTD Lahore. He is accused of running a dispensary using funds collected for terrorism financing. He, among others, also collected funds from this dispensary and used these funds for further terrorism financing. He also used these funds for personal expenses.

In addition to belonging to Proscribed Organisation LeT, he is also a UN Designated individual. His trial will be held before the Anti-Terrorism Court, Lahore.
