Kashif becomes youngest Pakistani mountaineer to scale K2

After scaling the world’s tallest mountain, the Mount Everest, mountaineer Shehroze Kashif reached the summit of K2, the world’s second highest peak, to become the youngest Pakistani to achieve the feat.

His father Kashif Suliman told a news channel that Shehroze, 19, successfully scaled K2 this morning at 8:10am.

Kashif scaled 8,849 metres high Mount Everest on May 11 to become the youngest mountaineer to climb the world’s highest peak. He is the fifth Pakistani to summit the peak and had also won the title of the world’s youngest climber.

His father said Shehroze had started his journey towards K2 two weeks ago. He reached the base camp on July 14 and reached the peak of the 8,611 metres high mountain on Tuesday, he added.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Alpine Adventure Guides also confirmed that a Pakistani team has successfully scaled K2.

Kashif had already climbed 8,051-metre Broad Peak, the world’s 12th highest mountain.
