Israeli warplanes have carried out two airstrikes on the rocket launch sites in southern Lebanon. Israeli military said the operation was a response to the rockets that were fired from Lebanon earlier. Israeli Defence Forces said it hit the launch sites and infrastructure along with another rockets launch site from the past.

Al Manar, a TV channel run by Hezbollah said Tel Aviv hit targets near the Lebanese town of Mahmudiya that is situated about 12 km from the Israeli border.

No injuries have been reported on both sides.

Avichai Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesman, said the Beirut is responsible for what happens on its territories and warned against more attacks on Israel from south Lebanon.

Earlier, Israeli Defence Forces carried out artillery attacks immediately after claiming that three rockets were fired.

The Lebanese army said Israel’s response extended to several villages and led to a fire in the town of Rashaya al-Fokh. The Lebanese says it is investigating to find the source of the rockets from Lebanon.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon said its Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Stefano Del Col is in contact with both parties.

The statement said the commander is urging them to cease fire and to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalation, especially on this solemn anniversary.
