GB’s government announces Ali Sadpara Mountaineering school

Ali Taj, the government of Gilgit-Baltistan’s spokesperson, revealed that that the Cabinet would pay tribute and homage to ‘our national hero’ Ali Sadpara.

According to Taj, Gilgit-Baltistan’s government has announced the Ali Sadpara Mountaineering School and Rs 30 lac for Ali Sadpara’s family. Along with this, the training and induction of Sajid Sadpara, Ali Sadpara’s son, would be carried out in the aforementioned school. Ali Sadpara is to also receive the highest civil award.

On February 5, 2021, days after stepping into his 45th year, Muhammad Ali Sadpara set off on a winter ascent of the K2.

A day into the ascent, contact was lost with Sadpara, and his companions John Snorri from Iceland, and Juan Pablo Mohr from Chile. The three were officially declared missing soon after, according to reports by the Alpine Club of Pakistan and the expedition’s manager, Chhang Dawa Sherpa.
