The lowering of temperatures has ushered in a fall in natural gas levels across the country, with citizens complaining of gas shortage for domestic usage in stoves and heaters. Complaints of gas shortage have been registered in Quetta, Karachi, Lahore and other major cities across Pakistan.
A lowering gas pressure has been recorded in households across Punjab. In Lahore and adjoining cities, residents are being forced to buy costly liquified petroluem gas (LPG) cylinders to fulfill domestic needs, according to reports.
According to authorities, the suppy of compressed natural gas (CNG) to fuel stations across Punjab has been suspended for an indefinite period.
Meanwhile, gas stations have been closed in Sindh and Balochistan. According to the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), gas supply will remain suspended on Mondays and Saturdays every week.
Gas supply to CNG stations in Khyber Pakhunkhwa has also been halted.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has announced that it is arranging for 12 LNG cargoes by January 2021 to meet Pakistan’s domestic fuel needs.
