FIR lodged against TLP chief, Interior Minister says order will be restored

Saad Hussain Rizvi, the chief of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, was detained in Lahore on Monday

Lahore police have registered an FIR against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi under 7ATA and other sections. Furthermore, the Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the government has decided to clear all roads blocked by the TLP protestor.

Furthermore, in places where things can escalate, mobile internet services will be suspended for 24 hours. This decision was taken during a meeting at Federal Interior Ministry which was attended by Religious affairs minister Noor-ul-Haq Qadri as well.

There is no plan of releasing Saad Rizvi as of yet, Rashid further added.

The protestors came on roads after TLP’s chief Saad Rizvi, the son of the now-deceased cleric Khadim Rizvi, was detained by security forces in Lahore on Monday.

The move came as a result of taking Rizvi into pre-emptive custody ahead of the 20 April deadline for the group’s demands to be put forth to the parliament. According to an agreement with the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan, the PTI government had to put their demands to the parliament which included policies like “expelling the French ambassador, severing ties with France and boycotting French products”, within three months through parliament.
