LAHORE: An additional district court has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to register a FIR against Babar Azam and two women for allegedly blackmailing and harassing Hamiza Mukhtar.
On Thursday, Judge Hamid Hussain, in his order, directed the respondent FIA to proceed further with respect to registration of the FIR against the culprits within the stipulated time following legal formalities.
During the proceeding, the FIA submitted its report and according to which one of the numbers belonged to Babar Azam and two other women named Saleemi Bibi and Maryam Ahmed. Even after getting notices thrice, Saleemi Bibi didn’t come to give her statement. She also didn’t surrender her phone for forensic audit which she promised in January. Maryam Ahmed is part of the inquiry but she said that she doesn’t know Hamiza and has no part in it.
The complainant Hamza Mukhtiar had alleged that she was continuously receiving threatening messages from different unknown mobile numbers. Furthermore, she has also said that the unknown alleged person has her objectionable pictures and videos and is threatening to upload them on social media to damage her repute.
On January 14, Additional Session Judge Nauman Muhammad Naeem gave an order to police to record the statement of Hamiza Mukhtar under section 154 Code of Criminal Procedure.
Babar Azam didn’t appear in court on January 18 and his brother Faisal Azam asked the court to give them more time to verify the matter.
Mukhtar, who had earlier claimed that Babar Azam blackmailed her and fornicated with her consent on promises of marriage, had filed a complaint with FIA for the registration of an FIR against unknown callers threatening her of dire consequences in response to the litigation initiated against Azam.
