Federal government decides to join review petition in Daniel Pearl case

The Federal Government has decided to formally join the Sindh Government review petition against the Supreme Court judgment on the acquittal of all accused persons involved in the murder of Daniel Pearl.

A notification by the Office of the Attorney-General of Pakistan reads, “The Federal Government has decided to formally join the review proceedings initiated by the Sindh Government in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the order/judgment of acquittal passed by the Court in Daniel Pearl’s murder case.”

The notification further stated that the “Federal Government will shortly file appropriate applications before the Supreme Court to be allowed to join as a part and further seek review and recall of the order/judgement of acquittal passed in the appeals filed by Government of Sindh.”

The federal government intends to move an application for the constitution of larger bench to hear the review petition.
