Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has announced that electronic voting technology will soon be available to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Speaking at an event in Daska, the minister said that technology for electronic voting has been developed and will be soon transferred to the ECP. The development has been done with the support of the National Institute of Electronics, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), and the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS).
The minister added that the introduction of electronic voting facility will ensure the transparency of future elections. He also said that the government has presented an election reform bill to adopt the electronic voting system in elections.
