Eid-ul-Fitr in Middle East, Europe to be celebrated tomorrow

The Hilal committees in the various countries in the Middle East and Europe have announced that the Shawwal moon has not been sighted and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Thursday.

The Saudi Arabian authorities announced on Tuesday that the Shawwal moon has not been sighted throughout the country and Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Thursday (tomorrow).

The official news agency of Saudi Arabia, SPA, tweeted a message from the Royal Court announcing that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Thursday.

“Royal Court: Tomorrow, Wednesday, is the last day of the holy month of Ramadan. Thursday is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr 1442 AH,” read the message on SPA English.

Meanwhile, authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar also announced on Tuesday that the Shawwal moon had not been sighted and Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Thursday.

The Shawwal moon has not been sighted in the United Kingdom and Edi-ul-Fitr 2021 would be celebrated on Thursday.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of UK organiser, Islam Ali Shah said in a statement: “The moon of Shawwal was not sighted in Europe and Britain. Hence, the Islamic month of Shawwal will begin on Thursday, May 13. Eid-ul-Fitr 1442 will be observed across Europe and the UK on May 13.”
